CAS in simple terms...
It is done through the use of 7 different learning outcomes that students should achieve to aim through their experiences (should achieve each one at least once).
As stated before, 150 hours of CAS are required. While West Valley doesn't have any specific criteria for how the hours are split among the 3 categories, it should be somewhat balanced. For example, 60 hours in Service, 30 hours in Creativity, and 60 hours in Action would be fine but 10 hours in Action, 20 hours in Service, and 120 hours in Creativity would not be fine.
As also stated before, students must complete a CAS project, which is a collaborative series of well thought-out and planned CAS experiences. It is done in groups, with each student involved having different roles (which should be defined and reflected on when logging it into managebac*!). It can involve any one of the strands of CAS and any amount of them and should last for at least of month (about 20 hours).

- Creativity: arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking
- Activity: physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle
- Service: an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity, and autonomy of all those involved are respected.
