So... What is "IB?"
IB stands for "International Bacclalaureate." It was officially established in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland by a group of teachers inspired by French educator Marie-Thérèse Maurette's "Educational Techniques for Peace. Do They Exist?" This book encouraged internationalism in education in order for the acceptance and respect of others. This is reflected in IB's objective* : "provide an internationally acceptable university admissions qualification suitable for the growing mobile population of young people whose parents were part of the world of diplomacy, international and multinational organizations." IB's original purpose was to act as a standardized schooling system for students of parents who worked an international embassy around the world instead of having them switch from different and incompatible school systems. But over time the IB program as grown and spread throughout the world. As of July 2021, there are over 5,500 IB world schools spread across 159 different countries.
